About Prof. Walid Elmoghazy
Prof. Walid Elmoghazy is a Professor of General Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Sohag University, and Clinical Lead of the Liver Surgery & Transplantation Unit at Sohag University Hospital. He is one of Upper Egypt's foremost hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons, with over 25 years of clinical and academic experience.
He obtained his MBBCh in 1999, followed by his MSc in General Surgery in 2004 and his PhD in 2008, all from the Faculty of Medicine, Sohag University. In 2019, he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in recognition of his distinguished contributions to surgery.
Prof. Elmoghazy completed specialized international fellowship training in four countries: Japan (Shinshu University), the United Kingdom (King's College Hospital, London), Canada (University of Toronto), and France (HΓ΄pital Paul Brousse, Paris). These fellowships gave him world-class expertise in the most complex liver, pancreatic, and transplant operations.
He has performed over 150 liver transplants and more than 1,000 major hepatobiliary and pancreatic procedures. He is proficient in all modern liver surgery techniques β open, laparoscopic, and robotic β and is recognized for his ability to manage the most complex HPB cases.
Alongside his surgical practice, Prof. Elmoghazy is actively involved in medical education, training the next generation of surgeons, participating in international medical conferences, and supervising research in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
